Welcome to the Department of Philosophy at Vivekananda Satavarshiki Mahavidyalaya. Located in the serene and remote area of Manikpara in the Jhargram district of West Bengal, our college has a rich history and a vibrant academic environment. The philosophy department was established in 1964 and initially affiliated with Calcutta University.The Department began its journey by offering only general courses. Over the years, our department has grown significantly. In 1985, the college transitioned its affiliation to Vidyasagar University. In 2007, we proudly introduced our Honours program, marking a new era of growth and development,providing students with greater opportunities for in-depth philosophical study. |

Despite these challenges, our students exhibit remarkable determination and diligence in their pursuit of academic and personal growth. Most of our graduates pursue Postgraduate courses at various universities after completing their Undergraduate Honours degree. Following their Postgraduate studies, several students have successfully qualified for the University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET). One student has even been awarded the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF). It is noteworthy that one of our students has secured a position as an Assistant Professor. Additionally, many of our alumni have gone on to become Assistant Teachers and hold various positions as government and non-government officials. |
