Vivekananda Satavarshiki Mahavidyalaya has come a long way in serving the community since its inception on August 17, 1964, marking a glorious journey of more than 60 years. The B.Sc. General course was introduced in the academic session 1995–1996. After a long gap, the B.Sc. Honours Physics course was introduced in the academic session 2004–2005. Currently, the department offers both B.Sc. Honours and General courses, with an intake capacity of 16 students. The department offers high quality teaching and well equipped laboratory facilities. The laboratories are well maintained and provide students with the necessary infrastructure for practical learning. Currently, the department has three full-time faculty members (including the Principal) and one State-Aided College Teacher (SACT). Additionally, a lab attendant assists students with practical sessions. The classrooms and laboratories are sufficiently equipped and regularly maintained to ensure a conducive learning environment. The faculty members are dedicated to delivering high-quality teaching and providing hands-on training in laboratory experiments, in accordance with the syllabus prescribed by Vidyasagar University, West Midnapore, West Bengal. Students are taught through conventional classroom methods using board work, as well as modern teaching aids such as PowerPoint presentations and overhead projectors. Regular tutorial sessions are also conducted to support student learning. The department fosters a strong teacher-student relationship, with faculty members providing continuous academic guidance and support. Beyond academics, students are encouraged to participate in extracurricular activities, including cultural competitions and sports events. The department has its own library, which is fully accessible to students. Additionally, facilities such as internet access, photocopying, and scanning are available to meet students' academic needs. Students from the department have consistently achieved high marks and CGPA in university examinations. Many graduates have successfully pursued higher education and secured positions in both government and private sectors. |
