About:

Participation in games and sports plays an important role in the personality development of the students. Sweating in the field gives them joy of participation, excitement of win and pain of failure as well. In long term, it helps them to develop physical fitness, mental alertness, emotional balance, mental toughness etc.

Activities:

The college conducts a variety of tournaments throughout the year, and encourages the students to enthusiastically participate in them. We also motivate our students to participate in inter-college competitions, organized by Vidyasagar University and DPI, West Bengal.

Achievements:

Every year our students got selection in the Foot ball, Kho Kho and Athletic team of Vidyasagar University to participate in Inter-University tournament. Some of our students also took part in All India Inter University tournament.
 

Our College Participated in “Inter College State Sports and Games Championship” (Paschim Medinipur and Jhargram District 2022 - 23) which was Hosted by Chandrakona Vidyasagar Mahavidyalaya from 7th to 10th February 2023.

In the same, Our College has bagged 6 prizes. And Pinki Mahata have qualified for the State Championship. List of winners are as follows:

2. Pinki Mahata - Long Jump (1st Position)
3. Tushar Dolai - Shot Put (3rd Position)
4. Pallab Mahata- 200 Mtrs. Running (3rd Position)

Report On District Level Games and Sports Championship - 2024 - 2025 (29th to 31st January

2025)

Jhargram District, Host - Vivekananda Satavarshiki Mahavidyalya, Manikpara
The Government of West Bengal along with the Higher Education Department conducts State Sports
every year. The State Government follows a trajectory to conduct District sports first, so that they can
have best sporting talent from every district to contribute to the state sports, who will in future play
Nationals.

For the District Sports, the authorities conduct Inter - College District Level State Sports and Games
Championship to refine the best taken across.

For the year 2024 - 2025, Jhargram District was represented by our College Vivekananda Statavarshiki
Mahavidyala, Manikpara. This was the first time that Paschim Medinipore and Jhargram were divided
as a district sports arena, after the Jhargram was created a district in the year 2018.
It was indeed a proud moment for us and we were delighted to host it. Under the Guidance of Principal
Dr. Uma Bhaumik, and Convenorship of Dr. Biplove Kumar, Dr. Mahua Dhara Ganguly, Dr. Rasamoy
Hansda and Shri Aloke Mahata - On 29th,30th and 31st of January 2025 the West Bengal District-Level
Inter-College State Sports and Games Championship 2024-25 was completed successfully. In total, 10
colleges from the district of Jhargram took part in it. On 29th and 30th, the events Football (for men)
and Kho-Kho (for women) were held; while athletics (for both genders) was held on 31st. The host
college won the football event defeating Silda Chandrasekhar College in the final. The host college also
won the Kho-Kho event as well, defeating Jhargram Raj College in the final. Sevabharati Mahavidyalya
Kapgari, Jhargram emerged as the best College in athletics across.

The Government Observer Dr. Deepak Paswan minutely channelized all the details and we were
extremely thankful to his immense guidance and support. We are also extremely thankful to Dr.
Swadesh Ranjan Pan who became guiding light for our entire tournament.

Vivekananda Satavarshki Mahavidyalya, would also like to thank everyone attached to this
extraordinary feat - which our college has achieved. We look forward to such more opportunities
which will allow us to grow as an institution.
