Internal Complaints Committee

Internal Complaints Committee

The **Internal Complaints Cell** (ICC) in Indian colleges is a mechanism established to address and resolve issues related to sexual harassment, discrimination, or any other grievances faced by students, staff, or faculty within the institution. Its main purpose is to create a safe and supportive environment for all individuals, ensuring that complaints are handled in a confidential, fair, and timely manner.

The cell is generally constituted under the **Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition, and Redressal) Act, 2013**, which mandates every educational institution to have such a committee. The ICC is responsible for:

1. **Receiving complaints**: Addressing grievances related to sexual harassment, discrimination, or any other form of misconduct.
2. **Investigation and Resolution**: Conducting an impartial inquiry into the complaints and taking appropriate action based on findings.
3. **Awareness Programs**: Organizing awareness and sensitization sessions to educate students and staff about their rights and responsibilities.
4. **Support and Counseling**: Offering support to victims of harassment or discrimination and guiding them through the legal and institutional processes.

The members of the ICC in our college include faculty, staff, and one external member dedicated to women's rights, to ensure impartiality and fairness in the process. The team members are determined to make the campus free of any untoward  incident related to harrassment of women through orientation programme after admission, banners and poster throughout  the campus and seminars. A State-level seminar was held in this context  on 27.11.2024.
